Icelandic striker Elías Már Ómarsson has been doing pretty well this season, with 15 goals in 12 appearances for his club Excelsior so far.

The player’s last feat in the Dutch second division was a hat-trick in the 3-0 win over TOP Oss at the weekend, and that makes him one of the hottest stars in the league.

Now as the local media gives Ómarsson all the attention, he can speak publicly about his biggest dream, which is to play for Liverpool.

The striker was interviewed by AD this week, and since his wish to sign for the Reds is well known, he was asked if his current form could help him with it.

“Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of playing football in the biggest leagues in the world. I’ve been a huge Liverpool fan from a young age, just like the rest of my family”, Omarsson told AD.

“Growing up in Iceland, the whole living room was filled with Liverpool stuff. We even painted Anfield on a box. I never stopped dreaming. But the older I get, the more you realise how things work. I’ve become realistic.”

Now with two hat-tricks and two braces for Excelsior this season, there’s no doubt Ómarsson will draw interest from other European sides in the next transfer window.

But as he turns 26-years-of-age in March, it’s becoming a little unlikely that clubs of Liverpool’s size would go after him at this stage.
