Valentino Lazaro’s move to Newcastle United became a lot more complicated over the past 24 hours.
On Sunday, there was a lot of confidence in the Italian media that a move to the Magpies from Inter Milan was closing in. The Austrian would be switching on loan for the second half of the season, with Newcastle then having an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Because of that option, personal terms needed to be agreed for any ongoing contract, so the player’s agent travelled to Newcastle for talks on the matter.
Then there came claims of interest from elsewhere, with RB Leipzig, Werder Bremen and potentially West Ham pulled into the picture. It was becoming clear that this was a matter of money, and who was prepared to offer the wages Lazaro wants.
FCInter1908 have spoken to the agent involved, who has told them: “Yesterday I was in Newcastle, we talked, but we still haven’t reached an agreement. Future of Lazaro? We will see what happens in the coming days. There is not only the English club, there are also other options.”
Again, it seems clear Newcastle United are yet to full satisfy Lazaro’s camp.
