The name of Gianluca Scamacca has been frequently mentioned in the Italian rumour mill, as the West Ham United striker has been heavily linked with a move back to his country.

The likes of AS Roma and AC Milan are both said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old, and the chase has been hyped in recent weeks.

It turns out that as Voce Giallorossa today feature an interview that Sassuolo chief Giovani Carnevali had with Sport Mediaset, the director advises Scamacca to stay at West Ham.

Carnevalli knows the striker well from their time at the Serie A side, and according to his opinion, the player can still succeed in English football.

“Scamacca can make the difference in Serie A, but right now, I’d prefer him to stay at West Ham, it’s still early to go home and he has all the potential to do well in the Premier League.”

Just this week, we first saw reports claiming Roma director Tiago Pinto would be in England to speak to West Ham about Scamacca. Later on, it was said that Milan are also interested in the player, as ‘discussions are underway’ to understand ‘how much he would cost’.

Most of the Italian media carries the assumption that Scamacca would jump at the chance of a return home, but Carnevalli is clearly of a different opinion.
