West Ham’s late attempts to snatch Maxi Gomez from Valencia’s clutches are getting more entertaining, and the Hammers certainly can’t be doubted for their efforts to disrupt this one.

Faro de Vigo now report representatives working on behalf of West Ham have arrived in Vigo via private jet.

Their intention is to go back with the signing of Gomez secured, and they won’t ‘throw in the towel’.

However, it’s claimed Celta Vigo don’t intend to negotiate with West Ham, with the insinuation being the Premier League club would need to deposit the player’s €50m buyout clause.

Celta don’t want talks because they’re quite happy with the deal offered by Valencia, which would see them get €14.5m, a bonus payment, Santi Mina, and another player on a two year loan.

Faro de Vigo say West Ham would therefore have to decide whether to pay the €50m, which would make the agreement between Celta and Valencia meaningless.

The article ends by saying: ‘Meanwhile, Maxi and his agents encourage West Ham, convinced they could get better conditions.’

It’s not clear whether they mean better conditions with West Ham, or better conditions with Valencia because of West Ham.
