Making headlines in England as he swapped Birmingham City for local rival Aston Villa, Jota Peleteiro’s summer transfer, while talked about in the Spanish press from his hometown, wasn’t big, big news across the nation.

El Chiringuito tried to change that on Thursday as they headed out to where the forward was relaxing on holiday to have a word with him and showcase the new Villain to a wider audience, as he’ll soon be a Spaniard playing in the Premier League.

Sitting on a marina, the Aston Villa signing said: “I think the past few years in England have been really good. I’ve managed to make a name for myself and I think it’s the right time to go to a great club, a big English club.”

Asked about swapping clubs in the same city, which, despite benefitting both clubs, was never going to go down well with the local fanbase, Jota admitted he might get a few comments on the streets, but feels it’ll blow over rather quickly.

He also felt he had shown the ability to become a ‘prominent player’ in the Championship and ‘couldn’t wait’ to be able to show what he can do with Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Prior to his move to Villa Park, the 28-year-old made 144 appearances in England’s second-tier spread over two spells at Brentford and Birmingham City, scoring 31 goals and assisting teammates 22 times.
