Villarreal travelled to Glasgow an hour late on Wednesday, as their plane had a technical fault reports the club’s local newspaper El Periodico Mediterrano.
The fault wasn’t immediately fixable so a new plane had to be sourced to carry the squad, and they’re now in the city waiting to face Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.
It’s a close group and whilst Villarreal are ahead with six points, both Rangers and Spartak Moscow have five, with Rapid Wien propping things up on four.
Layun, the Mexican international fullback, who is struggling for his place, Miguelón, a right back, who also played against Rangers in the first match, and Raba, an attacking midfielder, haven’t travelled.
Bruno Soriano is still injured.
The travelling party is: Goalkeepers: Asenjo, Andrés and Barbosa. Defence: Mario, Jaume Costa, Pedraza, Álvaro, Bonera and Funes Mori. Midfielders: Cáseres, Fornals, Trigueros, Cazorla, Morlanes and Chukwueze. Forwards: Gerard Moreno, Toko Ekambi, Bacca and Sansone.
