Normally, when a transfer is about to go through, all the stars align, and when we mean stars, we mean the European media.

Take the Paul Pogba saga for example: while there were a few conflicting reports at first, both the Italian and the English media started agreeing with each other, and the transfer eventually came to be.

The same happened for Nicolas Otamendi, with both sets of journalists agreeing a transfer was happening even if there were some disagreements about details etc…

This is why we, along with the vast majority of Arsenal fans, are a bit confused about what’s going on with Shkodran Mustafi and the London club’s alleged interest in him.

According to the English media, the German defender is very much the centre of attention at the Emirates, with Arsenal bidding, or at least readying a bid, while the Valencia media are adamant that no bid has reached them..

This time, it’s Radio Taronja’s turn to have their say on the deal, and they relay what Valencia have told them, which is that, bar any surprise, the Gunners will not be signing Mustafi, and the club aren’t any closer to getting him.

This isn’t us ‘scaremongering’ Arsenal fans, but simply relaying what is being said in the Valencia-based media.

The club are clearly aware of the interest, as explained by SuperDeporte here, they just aren’t all that concerned for the time being.

They’re normally fairly reliable about what goes on at their local club, but they could also quickly change their tune if Arsène Wenger does decide to make a move for the German centre-back.

Our advice to him would be ‘better late than never’, and for our sanity as well as that of Arsenal fans, we hope something happens soon.
