Did you know Joan Jordan was close to moving to the Premier League this summer? Because the Spanish press really want you to know about it.
West Ham United were particularly keen on the midfielder and was even close to securing a move to the London Stadium at one point.
That never happened, however, as he instead joined Sevilla, later explaining he turned down much better money in favour of staying in Spain.
It seems the potential move was quite advanced, though, with Estadio Deportivo reporting the midfielder went as far as meeting Manuel Pellegrini in person to discuss the potential move to London.
That’s new information, as the last report linking Jordan to West Ham failed to mention any meeting with the Chilean boss.
There are no details about the encounter, or what Pellegrini proposed to Jordan, just that they met this summer.
In truth it makes little difference anyway, with both parties having moved on and got on with their lives.
Jordan has made a flying start to life at Sevilla, where he’s scored two goals in his first four games, and the Hammers are eighth in the Premier League after five games.
The fact there was interest from England’s top-tier continues to be pushed in Spain, though, so Jordan is a name to keep an eye on, particularly where West Ham are concerned.
