Alvaro MorataAll summer the widespread assumption had been that Real Madrid would buy Alvaro Morata back from Juventus, by activating a clause, and then sell him on to make a big profit.

The first part happened as expected, but now the biggest Spanish reports are that Alvaro Morata will sign a new Real Madrid contract in the coming days.

In their Friday edition, Spanish newspaper AS say he’ll up his wages from €4.5m to €6m, and the final details are being discussed.

That includes the length of the contract, which could be five or six years. AS say Madrid have decided to keep the player, despite big offers. It’s claimed that Chelsea and Arsenal put €70m forward for the player, but had their offers refused.

Whilst Chelsea putting a big bid has been reported extensively in Spain, Arsenal doing the same hasn’t been.

If it hasn’t managed to get the player then it’s obviously useless, but if the AS claims are correct then it would certainly show some intent from Arsenal and make other claims of their moves for a striker more believable.
