Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt has been ‘proposed’ to Bologna this summer, with the Italian side looking for a new centre back.
Tuttobolognaweb, citing Resto del Carlino, report that Bologna are on the hunt for a new centre back to bolster their squad this summer.
They have Torino defender Lyanco and Brescia’s Andrea Cistana at the top of their list but have also been handed proposals by various agents.
One of those presented to them is from those representing Southampton’s Hoedt, who is an ‘old acquaintance’ of Italian football having played for Lazio from 2015 to 2017.
The Dutchman is currently out of favour at St Mary’s, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Celta Vigo and this season at Royal Antwerp.
That would suggest the Saints are open to moving him on and getting his wages off the wage bill, although their stance, particularly how much they would want for him, isn’t mentioned.
It’s easy to imagine they would look to recoup much of the £14m they paid in 2017, though, having tried to cover their losses on other players in recent deals.
