A month or so ago, a flurry of reports appeared in France concerning the future of Eduardo Macia at Leicester, as he was set to become the new director of football at Bordeaux in Ligue 1.
The Foxes’ head of recruiting had been targeted by the now new club owners to kickstart a new era in the south of France, with some claiming the deal was 99% done.
However, fast forward to Thursday, and that 1% is proving the toughest to overcome, as Sud Ouest in France claim the trail leading to the Spaniard has ‘grown colder’, with Southampton now in talks to extract him from King Power Stadium.
The French newspaper state the Saints, following the departure of their vice-president, Les Reed, are reorganising their backroom staff, and seem intent on getting Macia to help them going forward.
Prior to his time at Leicester, the 44-year-old has been the chief scout at Liverpool, technical director at both Olympiakos and Fiorentina, as well as being Real Betis’ director of football until September 11th 2016.
