Swedish youngster Casper Nilsson has found himself a new club in Ängelholm after being released by Brighton and Hove Albion.
HD cover the player today and comments from manager Andreas Granqvist after they secured the 21-year-old’s signature.
Nilsson left Brighton on February 3rd after five years with the club following a move from Malmo’s U17’s in August 2020.
He worked his way up the various youth ranks at Brighton from there, making 36 appearances for the U18s and 47 for the U21’s over that period while also being sent out on loan to Partick Thistle.
He never made it to Brighton’s first team, though, and both parties decided to bring their relationship to an end earlier this month.
It seems he’s now decide to return to his homeland as he looks to get back on track after what can be described as a disappointing time with Brighton.
Granqvist is certainly excited about the latest arrival and what he’s seen so far, even if there are some things to be improved upon.
“For being so young, Casper has already had time to gain a lot of international experience,” he said when asked about the youngster’s arrival and their plans for him.
“He is a skilled, offensive full-back with a nice strike. We are working on him becoming more stable in his defensive game in different phases. But I prefer that he has the qualities he already has, it fits well with what we want to do this year.”
