On Sunday, Le Journal Du Dimanche revealed that Girondins de Bordeaux were close to sealing a deal with Eduardo Macia, currently at Leicester, to become their new director of football.

Allegedly convinced by the amount of freedom and responsibility the Ligue 1 side are giving, the Foxes’ head of recruitment would come in and automatically replace Ulrich Ramé.

The article also mentioned interest from both Manchester United and Milan, but those names, as they point out, come from claims in England, and it isn’t their information.

Despite this, it’s in Ligue 1 the Leicester man is expected to continue his career, and Clément Carpentier, local journalist for 20 Minutes, believes the deal is “99%” done.

He continues by stating Macia’s profile had been ‘validated’ for a few weeks by the new owners, as well as Hugo Varela, an ex-agent who has been advising them.

As things stand, Bordeaux are currently sitting 8th in Ligue 1, having scored 13 goals and conceded 13, having signed Samuel Kalu and Yann Karamoh (on loan) to replace Malcom, who was sold to Barcelona.
