Here’s a very good source bringing an update on the future of Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
The player’s wife Eliana Guercio has been chatting to fans on Twitter, and when asked if they’re going back to Racing, given rumours of ongoing negotiations, she actually claimed there are no offers so far from back home.
“I’m staying due to the pandemic, when this madness passes a little, I’ll go back to Ser,” said Eliana Guercio.
“There are no calls from any club in Argentina, so… Surely someone is lying to them. Have a great year.”
Sergio Romero’s farewell from Manchester United was confirmed by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back on Friday. The coach said the goalkeeper’s contract, which expires in 2021, shall not be extended.
The former Argentina international wasn’t even used by the club this season, and that makes it clear that he should actually leave in the January transfer window, instead of waiting for his deal to expire.
Reports in Argentina linked Romero to a return to Racing, with the club president confirming their good relationship with the player, but it seems they’re still to open talks for the signing.
Romero joined Manchester United on a free move from Sampdoria back in 2015, and has made 61 appearances for the club.
