Having lost Edinson Cavani to a free transfer, and with Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly trying to force some kind of exit this summer, there have been a lot of rumours about Manchester United wanting a striker.

The likes of Darwin Nuñez and Erling Haaland might have gone to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, but there are other players out there Erik ten Hag could end up working with.

One of those, according to Media Foot in France, is Moussa Dembélé, currently at Lyon, and who has often been linked with a move to Manchester United.

While it might have seemed a bit odd in the past, the 25-year-old did have a great season last year under Peter Bosz, scoring 22 goals and assisting another five in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The striker is back to his best, which has led to a few clubs taking note, including Manchester United.

The French website report that ‘in secret, Manchester United are moving to relaunch contacts’ for the goalscorer.

Should Cristiano Ronaldo leave, the hole left by the Portuguese star ‘will be compensated by one or two arrivals’, with Dembélé potentially being one of them.

As for Lyon in all this, they are ‘always listening for opportunities’ when it comes to the striker, who only has a year left on his contract.

Without a new deal, this makes this summer the favourite time for a sale, meaning that ‘if Manchester United pull the trigger, there’s strong chances it goes all the way’.
