Jerry Mbakogu to Leeds United is very close to completion, according to Italian reports, and we’re now getting a better idea of the how much the Championship club will pay for the 25-year-old.
Earlier on Monday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the transfer would be around €7m, with the Nigerian forward moving to Elland Road in the summer, probably as a replacement for Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
Well, according to Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, a Bologna based local newspaper, the fee taking Mbakogu to Leeds could reach €7m, but will in fact be €5m up front with €2m in bonuses likely to be triggered through appearances and other achievements.
The deal is expected to be finalised on Monday, which means the Championship side have moved quickly following their scouting trip to see him play against Spezia on Saturday.
The former Padova striker has scored eight goals in 20 appearances this season for the Serie B side, also picking up two assists along the way.
