Yaya Sonogo has another year left on his contract at Arsenal, and it’s very likely he’ll be switching clubs in January or next summer due to a lack of playing time.
The French striker spent the second half of the last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he managed to score three goals, but couldn’t seal a move away from Arsenal this summer.
According to a report from Italian website Calciomercato, Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne are keen on signing the 23-year-old. Calciomercato say Arsenal could allow Sanogo to leave on loan, in their very brief article.
Sanogo hasn’t featured at all for the Gunners this season, and it’s quite clear he doesn’t have a future at the North London club. Sanogo signed for Arsenal on a free transfer from Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre in 2013, but has failed to make any sort of a real impact, and has been sent on loan several times.
Quite what an Italian website would know about an Arsenal player moving to France is unknown, but a Sanogo exit would likely suit all involved. Saint Etienne used to have a forward called Sanogo player for them, Boubacar Sanogo, he scored one goal in 30 games.
