Every transfer window now sees a familar pattern.
During the evening, French sources seem to throw out huge claims. Some turn into actual transfers, like Fabinho to Liverpool, and then many disappear without much trace.
Liverpool fans will hope this one is the latter situation.
France Football claim, according to their own information, that Sadio Mane to Real Madrid has been lined up as the Spanish champions first signing of the summer window.
The player himself had agreed, and the move was being pushed by Zinedine Zidane. Mane’s transfer has subsequently been thrown into doubt by the manager’s exit, with it not being certain what the new man in charge will want. This is all going with the theory that Florentino Perez doesn’t do the transfers regardless of who the manager is.
France Football say all that was left to do on the transfer is the Liverpool side, making it sound relatively straight forward. Liverpool hadn’t agreed, there’s not even a claim there’d been any serious offers or talks about the transfer amount.
The French publication says ‘Sadio Mane to to Real was almost done’, but given Liverpool hadn’t agreed that doesn’t sound right. Anyway, it’s still felt this transfer could be revived.
