Over the weekend, Calciomercato and several other Italian websites pushed a story they said had come from Tuttosport.

It was stated that Jorge Mendes isn’t just working on Ruben Neves moving to Juventus, but also David de Gea and James Rodriguez too, in what would be a dream triple transfer.

The first thing we do when something like this crops up is check the original source, and Tuttosport don’t seem to be making a song and dance out of it. We can’t locate the story in their paper editions, so unless it’s a version which has bypassed us, this seems to be being pushed solely by various outlets online.

Wolves star Neves got a couple of Tuttosport front pages in November, with a transfer being seriously talked up.

However, around the same time it was reported in Portugal that Neves didn’t want to move to Italy and, even if he leaves Wolves, would prefer to stay in English football.

That won’t kill the story completely for the Italian media, as has become clear, and Mendes can be very persuasive should he genuinely want his player to sign for Juventus.

When the claims started in Portugal about a move to Wolves, it was made clear that Mendes had to convince his player about the move.
