What a turnaround it has been for Tiemoué Bakayoko at Milan over the past month, as the Chelsea loanee has slowly but steadily gone from “The Worst” to “The Best” for the Serie A side.
Back on November 1st, the 25-year-old was heavily criticised for his performance against Genoa, as his mistake led to their opponent’s goal.
From there on in, the Chelsea midfielder, for whom Milan paid the Blues €5m to acquire on loan, has gone from strength to strength, going into Sunday’s game as one of Gennaro Gattuso’s more important players, and he certainly delivered.
Gazzetta dello Sport give him their man of the match award for his performance, labelling him ‘The Best’ player on the pitch, stating it was a ‘applause worthy display, the type one gets when they urge the crowd’.
Milan walked away 2-1 winners against Parma on Sunday thanks to a goal from Patrick Cutrone and a penalty from Franck Kessie, having gone 1-0 down when Roberto Inglese put the promoted side ahead in the 49th minute.The win pushed Milan into the top four following Lazio’s 1-1 draw against Chievo, which, if they carry this form, could be huge in their endeavours to keep Bakayoko at San Siro next season.
They’ll need to pay Chelsea €35m, but at this rate, the deal could end up looking like a bargain for them.
There’s a long way to go yet, but the past five performances or so will have been incredibly encouraging for both the Blues and Milan.
