On Thursday, we relayed news from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur have slowed down a bit in their pursuit of signing Radu Drăgușin after Genoa requested €35m to sanction his sale.

It was also said Napoli, who have shown interest in the defender, aren’t willing to give up yet.

Sky Italia state the Serie A winners are trying to overtake Tottenham in the race to sign the centre-back, who is on top of the list for both clubs.

To ‘beat competition’ from Spurs, the Naples club are offering €20m plus Leo Østigård and Alessandro Zanoli, to get closer to Genoa’s €35m demand. The report adds the formula for Zanoli [earlier claims have stated a loan deal] needs to be evaluated.

Sky’s claim is relayed by Il Mattino, who then provide their take on the north London club.

Spurs seem to have a better chance to convince both Genoa and the 21-year-old, who is open to making a switch to the Premier League.

It’s claimed Tottenham have had an agreement over personal terms with the player ‘for days’ and have to meet the Serie A side’s request to close the deal. Il Mattino state they are asking for €35m, but the deal could be closed for €30m.

Calciomercato.it also claims Napoli are ready to overtake Ange Postecoglou’s side to sign the player.

Walter Mazzarri’s side met with Drăgușin’s entourage yesterday, to ‘try to overcome the obstacle’ with his image rights. If this is resolved, the outlet says Napoli could take the pole position in the transfer race.
