Liverpool are keen on signing Teun Koopmeiners and are set to battle it out with Juventus for the Atalanta star.

Last weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the midfielder prefers the Serie A side over the Reds. On Tuesday, the same outlet reported Liverpool don’t feel left out of the race and are ready to act in the summer.

Liverpool will provide competition to the Turin club and this is now discussed again by Tutto Atalanta.

The Netherlands international has talked about his desire to leave La Dea and this opens up interesting scenarios for him.

It’s claimed Gian Piero Gasperini’s side need €60m, a figure that’s within the reach of the English clubs. This includes Liverpool, who are ‘strongly interested’ in the Dutchman. Juve have an ‘unexpected strategy’ to beat the Merseyside club and others in the transfer race.

Atalanta could be open to carrying out negotiations if Juve’s Dean Huijsen is included in the deal.

Even though Liverpool’s firm interest makes it ‘complicated’ for Juventus, they are taking advantage of Atalanta’s interest in Huijsen to ‘gain advantage’ in the negotiations for the Dutchman.

The 18-year-old centre-back has a bright future ahead and could unlock the deal to take the Atalanta star to the Turin club.

Liverpool still have hope after Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi stated no deal has been agreed to sell Koopmeiners.

“The club is solid and doesn’t need to sell: Koopmeiners hasn’t been sold to Juve or anyone else, nor has he asked to be sold,” he told L’Eco di Bergamo, relayed by Gianluca Di Marzio.
