Bad news for Tottenham, Juventus, or whoever else was planning to buy Ricardo Pereira in this transfer window.

As much said during the summer, the player had a €25m release clause, quite a low figure for the current market standards, and therefore fitting for Tottenham.

Pereira had a good two year loan spell at Nice, and when he returned to Porto, the Portuguese side realised how important he can be for the team.

That’s when interest from Tottenham and Juventus showed up, with both clubs keeping an eye on him at the start of the season, possibly because of this reasonable release clause.

But today, newspaper O Jogo reveals that the local media has been wrong all this time, as Pereira’s real release clause is €37.5m.

They claim the €25m figure had been active until July 15th, and was increased by 50% since then due to another clause on his contract.

O Jogo cstate Pereira is happy at Porto and has already told the club he has no intention of leaving. His idea is to take his chance and finally settle at the club, so he can soon be back to the national team.

Could it all change after a bid from Tottenham or Juventus? We bet it could. Especially because the newspaper claims that no official offers have been made so far, a contraction to previous claims on Tottenham.
