Manchester United have been linked with a move for Diego Godin for some years, especially repeatedly towards the end of his spell with Atletico Madrid.
Godin first decided to reject any overtures from England, and then when it came to leaving Atletico on a free transfer, he plumped for Inter Milan… with it being unclear whether genuine Premier League interest still existed.
His move to Inter Milan hasn’t had the desired impact, and it’s now thought an exit as quick as this summer is possible.
Manchester United have again been pushed forward.
Passione Inter, part of the Gazzetta dello Sport group, say a move to Tottenham can’t be discarded, and ‘especially’ the ‘revolution’ at Old Trafford.
Inter want to get rid of Godin’s wages, with are put at €20m. That’s a huge figure and is on account of him arriving on a free transfer.
Signing a 34 year old doesn’t exactly scream ‘revolution’ and it may be questionable whether Manchester United would even be interested if Godin accepted a pay cut.
