Real Madrid are currently third in La Liga. They’re 18 points behind champions Barcelona, and nine points behind Atletico Madrid.

They won’t be winning a trophy this season and their recent form isn’t showing real signs of improvement, despite Zinedine Zidane being back in charge at the club.

Rayo Vallecano, who are 19th in La Liga, beat Madrid 1-0 at the weekend, and it’s heightened calls for a clear-out this summer. Several signings are expected to arrive, and Zidane will need to make room but also decide on selling players who can bring in a reasonable fee.

L’Equipe say the loss has only made Zidane more determined to refresh his workforce in the next transfer market, and he has the support of those above him in Madrid.

The French newspaper quote an unnamed Real Madrid player as saying: “We took a big blast in the dressing room half-time. The coach was not at all happy with what he saw on the pitch. He was really p****d off.”

Zidane made his anger clear publicly, unhappy with the approach of his team. It’s thought there’s a lack of desire, self-motivation, and not enough respect for the Real Madrid shirt.

It’s stated the arrival of five to six new signings ‘is now certain’.
