When it comes to discussing Paul Pogba and a potential transfer, you know there’s always going to be a consistent theme; money.
Any deal for the Manchester United man will involve an absolute tonne of it, as we saw when he made the move to Old Trafford in the first place.
It’s not just transfer fees you have to consider with the Frenchman though.
There’s wages, agent fees, advertising and a whole slew of other issues to deal with before you can even think about signing him.
However, it seems one of those problems they’ll have to fix could end up being the solution to their troubles this year.
AS explain that because of a rule at Real Madrid, Pogba could end up paying part of his wages at the Bernabeu should he move from Manchester United this summer.
At the moment Pogba is the fourth most successful footballer in terms of advertising, having signed a deal with Adidas that sees him take €40m over ten seasons.
That puts him behind the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar but it’s still a considerable sum.
Madrid estimate he could increase that to €10m a year should he move to Spain, but it’s club policy for them to receive 50% of whatever a player earns in image rights.
Thus Pogba could end up paying part of his salary, which is likely to be quite high, making a move to the Bernabeu more attainable for all involved.
Of course, Real Madrid still need to negotiate a deal with Manchester United, and crucially Mino Raiola, but it seems one hurdle may have already been jumped over.
