Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has warned Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah not to burden himself with getting revenge on the Spanish giants.
Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League on Sunday, a repeat of their now-famous meeting in 2018.
That final saw Madrid run out as winners thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale after a goalkeeping horror show from Loris Karius.
One of the key moments, though, was an early injury to Mohamed Salah, who was forced off the pitch in the 31st minute after a collision with Sergio Ramos.
That’s certainly a sentiment which is shared by the Liverpool star, who tweeted, ‘We have a score to settle’ after Madrid made the final.
Those messages have been picked up on in Spain, where Carvajal was asked about their ‘spiteful and revengeful tone’ by ABC.
“I don’t know if Salah or Liverpool are out for revenge,” he said.
“It’s true that when you lose a Champions League final, you always want to have a second chance against the same team to beat them.
“Hopefully, it won’t be a major burden for Salah to lose a second Champions League final against Real Madrid.”
