After years of writing about it, we’ve come to terms with the fact David De Gea to Real Madrid is a story that will never die, regardless of how long the Spanish goalkeeper has left on his contract.
With reports Manchester United are currently in talks with the 27-year-old over a new deal, with his current one running out next summer, the La Liga champions are back in the hunt.
We’ve covered pretty much every single angle on the story already, from El Pais stating De Gea was not interested in leaving the Red Devils to El Chiringuito claiming he was ‘close to reaching an agreement’ with Real Madrid.
Well, we’ve got a new one, with Eduardo Inda, director of OK Diario in Spain, speaking to the aforementioned El Chiringuito and revealing some new ‘information’ on the subject.
According to him, relayed by El Bernabeu, Real Madrid have reached out to David De Gea and asked ‘to not renew with Manchester Untied’ because it would ‘much easier’ for the La Liga side to sign him that way.
Zinedine Zidane’s side are said to be hoping to get him for ‘around €100m’.
However, down their end, the Red Devils are keen to tie him down, and are allegedly ‘offering him €600k/week before tax, or €14m/year post tax’. Hmm.
Believe what you want, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Real Madrid did pass on a message, but we can’t see Manchester United selling anytime soon.
Unless De Gea wants to leave, of course.
