Amid all the speculation surrounding David De Gea’s future at Manchester United, reports in Spain claim the Spain international has ‘all but reached’ an agreement to join Real Madrid.

Admittedly, those reports come from Jugones, a show on La Sexta on Spanish TV known for its, erm, how do we say this, flair for the dramatic?

It might seem harsh, but this is the same show who, just under a month ago, reported that José Mourinho had given Manchester United ‘the green light’ to sign a now 33-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo for around €400m.

We’re not saying they’re wrong. we’re just saying that we find some of the things they report hard to believe.

Relayed by Fichajes, Jugones allegedly state the Red Devils would ask over €100m for their star goalkeeper, which would make him, by far and large, the most expensive shot stopper of all time.

That’s a lot of money but we all know how Ed Woodward enjoys playing fax games with Real Madrid, and, at the end of the day, Manchester United are free to ask however much they want for their players.

Considering most fans see the 27-year-old as priceless, and the club knows this, the amount put forward by Jugones isn’t all that lucrative.

We’ll have to see what comes of this, but, much like the Cristiano Ronaldo story, we won’t be holding our breath.
