Following reports on Thursday saying Mamadou Loum should be on his way to Reading, we now get to see more information from Portuguese newspapers today.
A couple of outlets have a little more to say regarding the move. Record is one of them, and they say the negotiations between Porto and the Royals are ‘concluded’, as the player ‘will really play in the Championship in 2022/23’.
They report it will be a loan deal, with Reading have an option to buy the player for €5m.
Meanwhile, O Jogo doesn’t sound so sure that the agreement is done, but they do confirm that Porto this week received an offer from the Royals for the move, and the player should indeed be on his way to England.
The outlet highlights that Loum was never in Sérgio Conceição’s plans for the season. That’s because despite starting pre-season in the first team, he was soon relegated to the B squad, and was left there until he found a new club to play for.
Regarding the transfer formula, O Jogo’s information is nearly the same as Record, despite a slight difference in the fee for the permanent move, with the outlet claiming it’s €5.5m.
Loum, who has a contract with Porto running until 2024, played last season on loan at Alavés.
