Alexandre Mattos may not have officially started his job at Reading yet, but it seems his suggestions are already being used by the Championship side.
That’s because according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, the Royals have made an approach to sign two São Paulo players.
It’s said Reading have contacted the club looking for two midfielders: Igor Liziero and Felipe Aranuna. They both have European passports, which would make the transfers easier.
The English side have shown they could pay €7m for Liziero, but given their transfer ban, they would need a special authorization from the FA to go on with the negotiations.
Globo Esporte says that São Paulo aren’t keen on loaning Liziero until the time when Reading are allowed to make the permanent signing. So the talks have reached an impass for now.
Regarding Anaruna, it’s only said that he has approaches from other foreign clubs, but there are no details on how far Reading’s interest has gotten.
