Last week, we suggested Leeds United could have been keeping an eye on Max Gradel and his performances in France.

After all, one of the Championship club’s scouts had watched two Toulouse games and two Bordeaux matches, and while he could have been scouting possible left-backs, he probably kept an eye on the former Elland Road star.

As we explained in our previous article, the 30-year-old had been disappointing at the beginning of his loan, but that has changed recently, with the forward now seen as one of the ‘rare successful summer dealings’ for the Ligue 1 side.

On loan from Bournemouth, the winger has scored five goals in 13 appearances, and L’Equipe have put a big question mark over his head, suggesting Toulouse could try and make the move permanent if they so wished.

Currently 17th in the French league, Pascal Dupraz’s side are in danger of slipping in the relegation zone, somewhere a player of Gradel’s standards won’t want to be in.

While there’s little chance of him leaving Toulouse in January, a stay at Bournemouth won’t be on the cards, which is where Leeds could come in.

Were the Ligue 1 club to end up battling against relegation, and Thomas Christiansen’s side to make the playoffs, he would be presented with two clubs going in different direction come the end of the season.

And if Leeds make it back to the Premier League, well, that’s a no brainer, isn’t it?
