With Allan Nyom as their only natural right-back (Dawson started his career as a centre-back), West Brom could surely do with a new player in that position.

Yesterday, we covered an article relaying Het Laatste News’ claims that Tony Pulis had sent a scout to watch KAA Gent take on Tottenham in Belgium in the first knockout round of the Europa League.

The Belgians walked away with a surprise 1-0 win over Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and one man in particular will have caught the eye of West Brom scouts: Thomas Foket.

The 22-year-old right-back has consistently been one of the better full-backs in the Jupiler Pro League over the last couple of seasons, and even earned himself a Belgium cap back in November for his performances at club level.

With a contract running out in 2018, the young defender’s future is likely to be sorted in the summer, with his potential most likely earning him a move abroad.

Considering West Brom’s need in the position, and with Gent unlikely to ask for extortionate amounts (unless they renew his deal in the coming months), Foket’s next step being the Hawthorns makes a lot of sense.

Fans will want next summer to go a lot smoother than the last two transfer windows, and if West Brom’s board get deals done early, that should allow them to approach next season with much needed serenity.
