To many on the outside, Barcelona’s current situation looks to be something of a crisis. The club have had to mortgage off a percentage of their future income in order to ease their current finances, and there’s the worry that their spending is still out of control.
That feeling isn’t shared around the club, where there’s widespread optimism and a tendency to ignore any bad news which may be around the corner. One of the happy points for Barcelona right now is Raphinha, after the Brazilian arrived from Leeds United this summer.
Multiple clubs wanted the player, and were even prepared to pay Leeds more than Barca were, but his absolute insistence on moving to the Camp Nou was crucial.
AS say he’s been ‘sensational’ since arriving from Leeds, and is the ‘pre-season MVP’. The same stance is held in the Catalan media, and it’s being suggested, even at this early stage, that Raphinha could be something of a bargain.
Should he be able to take his new club to Champions League glory, then there’ll be bonuses ahead for Leeds United.
