Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to join the race for the Sporting star Bruno Fernandes, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola today.

After months of rumours, the outlet reports today the complete list of nine clubs who, somehow, have shown their interest in signing the midfielder.

A Bola divides the clubs among those who have been frequently mentioned, which is the case of Manchester City and Manchester United; others who are being linked with a smaller frequency, which are Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Juventus and Arsenal; and then there’s Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan.

The newspaper says the interest from the Spurs and the Nerazzurri is ‘practically new’ as they join the other sides in the race for Fernandes.

This first part of the story may even make it look like Tottenham and Inter Milan are the weakest clubs in the race, but that’s not the case.

We say that because A Bola also lists Milan and Atletico Madrid, but then claims that due to the heavy competition and the big numbers involved, the Rossoneri and Colchoneros have both given up on the signing.

That makes it sound like Tottenham and Inter are well alive in the race, just like the other seven clubs.

Bruno Fernandes is protected by a €100m release clause, and the list of pretenders makes it look like he’s leaving Sporting this summer for something close to that amount.

And now we have all the Premier League top six linked to the Sporting star, who has 28 goals and 15 assists this season.
