Three days ago, Estadio Deportivo stated Giovani Lo Celso’s status at Tottenham Hotspur had changed in the past few weeks. It was also said the midfielder wasn’t pleased with the promise made by Ange Postecoglou that he would have a prominent role at Spurs.

The 27-year-old didn’t feature in the north London club’s two fixtures this season and could leave them before the window closes.

Friday’s Gazzetta dello Sport states Napoli looked at the Tottenham player earlier this summer.

It’s claimed the Serie A side tried to sign the Argentina international on a loan deal while Spurs wanted a permanent transfer. He’s back on their agenda again because Postecoglou & co. no longer consider him to be ‘useful’.

If the Premier League side were to maintain the same stance in the coming days, the report states the Naples club could make another attempt to sign the former Real Betis man.

Lo Celso currently earns over €4m net per year at Tottenham.

Gazzetta say this would make it difficult for Napoli to carry out a potential deal.

It needs to be seen whether Postecoglou will give minutes to the South American when Spurs face AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, because if he doesn’t, that could be a sign for a lot of clubs that something can get done in the dying hours of the transfer window.
