Leicester City are one of the potential candidates to buy Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the next window.

That’s according to Kicker, relayed by Sportbuzzer, who state that it’s ‘almost certain’ he’ll leave the German club, six months after joining them from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Bayern were forced to sign the 34-year-old in January after Manuel Neuer fractured his leg while skiing.

The Switzerland international has made 24 appearances for the Bavarian club but his displays were sometimes viewed critically. This, coupled with Neuer’s return from injury, would not make him the first-choice stopper next season.

Therefore, Sommer’s future at the Allianz Arena is ‘almost uncertain’ and it has also seen him attract interest from Leicester. Along from the Foxes, Villarreal and Valencia are ‘considered as possible buyers’.

The stopper’s contract lasts until 2025 and there’s nothing to indicate the fee needed for Leicester or other clubs to take him away from Bayern in the summer.

There’s also no mention if Leicester will make an attempt to sign Sommer, if they are relegated from the Premier League. They are currently 18th in the table, two points behind 17th placed Everton.
