Corinthians remain hopeful of signing Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa, according to reports from Brazil.

As journalist Jorge Nicola shares some news on the Timão’s transfer plans for the 2023 season, it’s claimed the 30-year-old’s arrival could still happen.

The chances remain because Aston Villa are still to receive a bid to sell Coutinho, and in case that doesn’t happen until the 31th of January, then agent Kia Joorabchian believes the player could be loaned to Corinthians.

The Brazilian side will be waiting for that situation to develop, and have Al Hilal’s Matheus Pereira as an alternative.

Philippe Coutinho has 18 appearances for Aston Villa this season, but it’s now been months since he last started a game for the club.

With the Villans spending €20m to sign him from Barcelona at the start of the season, it’s very obvious they won’t just let him go for nothing right now.

There had even been rumours saying Corinthians wanted him signed for free, and that possibility is ruled out.

Now it seems like a matter of waiting and seeing if any offers will arrive in the final days of January.
