Tottenham appear to have agreed the signing of Steven Bergwijn from PSV, after a chaotic couple of days at the Dutch club.
Spurs had already agreed a deal to sign Gedson Fernandes on loan from Benfica, with a purchase option, and if they also get an out-and-out striker then it will have been a good January window for Jose Mourinho.
Harry Kane’s injury presents the need for another option, and whilst Bergwijn will help with choices in attack he’s not the same type of player.
Various options have been considered, and that now leads Mourinho back to Benfica.
Tuesday’s edition of O Jogo reports Tottenham are considering Haris Seferović, the Lisbon club’s Swiss striker. Spurs are deciding whether to make a move for the player ‘in the coming hours’, with West Ham also presented as keen.
Both clubs have expressed their interest and taken information on a potential transfer, although that’s all they’ve done at this stage.
The 27 year old has played 26 matches for Benfica this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists. Recently, most of his appearances have been as a substitute, so there may be room for negotiation.
