Charly Musonda’s father has confirmed that the player’s future will be decided by Antonio Conte after a couple of weeks of training sessions in London.

Musonda has returned to England after spending one year on loan at Real Betis in Spain. Although his first six months were pretty good, with many clubs battling for him during the summer window, the midfielder couldn’t repeat his good form and was called back by Chelsea due to his lack of game time.

“Belgium is no longer an option,” said his father (via HLN). “The club hasn’t decided yet whether they want to loan Charly Junior again. Antonio Conte wants to see him working in training for two weeks, only then a decision will be made, the options are clear. Conte will decide whether my son stays at Chelsea or if he is loaned again.”

The Spanish media initially said Musonda wouldn’t have a place in Chelsea’s squad, but things could change due to the sale of Oscar and Victor Moses’ call up for the African Cup of Nations.

Musonda has been in London since 2012, when he signed for Chelsea from the Belgian side RSC Anderlecht Jugend. Despite his long time owned by Chelsea, Musonda is still to make an official debut for the club.
