AC Milan won’t give up on signing Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu so soon. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport on Tuesday, the Italian side are working on a new offer to land the player in the January window.

After having a simple loan denied, club official Adriano Galliani would now rely on a buying option to convince the Toffees to let the player go.

The contacts between the clubs are said to have intensified in the past few hours, as Milan want the deal to happen quickly since Deulofeu is the club’s number one target for this transfer window.

The 22-year-old has 12 appearances this season, but is still to make any assists or score any goals. His situation is worse than it was last season, when he finished with 33 appearances, four goals and 13 assists.

But even though the player’s fortunes has worsened since Ronald Koeman’s arrival, it’s continually said to be the Dutch manager who apparently doesn’t want to see him leaving Goodison Park.
