Manchester United are looking at AS Roma star Paulo Dybala, according to Calciomercato.
The forward’s deal expires in 2025 and has a €20m release. The figure will be lowered to €12m for clubs outside Italy.
It’s claimed the clause can be removed with an automatic renewal, which will also see his salary increase from €4.5m to €6m per year. Dybala will have to decide whether or not to exercise this.
“The clause is a matter between my attorneys and the club, but I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season. And if I don’t know what’s going to happen with me, let alone the coach, you have to ask him,” Dybala said.
“I’d like to be coached by him because he’s one of the best and I’d like to win with him, but for now I’m only thinking about the match against Salzburg. I hope Roma play in the Champions League next season.”
Calciomercato state two conditions are needed for the Argentina international to continue at the club. The first one is Roma qualifying for the Champions League next season and the other is José Mourinho’s continuity.
If the ex-Chelsea manager were to leave, the World Cup winner’s future will be away from the Giallorossi.
When discussing his suitors, it’s pointed out Dybala’s release clause is ‘tempting’ for clubs in England, where Manchester United are said to be in the picture. The report states Erik ten Hag’s side have ‘already shown the first signs’ to sign him.
In other words, Manchester United or another club outside Italy stands a chance to sign Dybala for €12m in the summer.
