On Monday, journalist Rudy Galetti reported Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen has agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund. He also stated the deal isn’t done yet but the clubs are in advanced negotiations.
There’s been a new development as Rudy Galetti now states the left-back is ‘on his way’ to the Bundesliga side on a six-month loan deal.
This is backed up by Sky Deutschland, who state the deal to take the Chelsea player to BVB is ‘about to be completed’.
It’s said that in the last few hours, the Blues and the German club came closer to an agreement for the 21-year-old’s loan transfer. The operation is so advanced that the defender’s medical has ‘already been scheduled’ for Wednesday.
Once that’s completed, the Netherlands U21 international will join Dortmund on loan until the end of this season.
Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly Twitter, to add that Maatsen will arrive in Germany later today and will undergo medical tests tomorrow.
He also explains that Chelsea haven’t yet agreed to include a purchase option but that could change when the transfer is made official.
The Dutchman was restricted to one league start under Mauricio Pochettino and will be hoping for regular minutes at Dortmund.
With Chelsea securing an exit, and potentially on their way to more, it can provide room for Pochettino – and those above him – to consider any incoming business this month.
