On December 7th, we carried a report from Calciomercato, who claimed that Genoa are planning to make an approach for Achraf Lazaar after they failed to sign the Newcastle United left-back last summer.
Two weeks later, Tutto Mercato Web reported that Genoa and Frosinone are ‘interested’ in signing him in the winter market.
It’s further claimed developments are ‘expected’ in the coming days.
He’s not made a single appearance for the Tyneside club this season and is now looking for an exit in January and the report suggests the player wants to ‘close the experience’ at Newcastle and return to Italy.
Lazaar’s current deal with Rafael Benitez’s side will run down in 2021 and after failing to feature this campaign, a move away from St James’ Park would be a win-win situation for him and the Magpies.
