Manchester City are reportedly looking to bring in a new left-back to strengthen their back four next season.
Various names are already linked with a move to the Etihad, and this includes Atalanta’s Robin Gosens and Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo.
The duo are also on the radar of Atlético Madrid, and the Spanish club’s left-back, Renan Lodi, is also in the Citizens summer target list.
La Razón now claim the ‘great goal’ of Diego Simeone’s side is to ‘reinforce’ the left side of their defence, and they then provide a short update on Grimaldo.
As per the report, the Premier League winners also want the 25-year-old in the upcoming window.
Grimaldo left Barcelona for the Portuguese club in 2015 and has established himself with the Eagles. However, the fullback ‘seems to have his days numbered at Benfica’.
With both Atlético and Pep Guardiola’s side interested in the player, it will be necessary to see whether he will return to Spain or ‘start a new adventure’ in England by joining Manchester City.
This would indicate the defender is yet to make a decision on where he will play next season.
Grimaldo has two goals and eight assists to his name in 30 league matches this season.
