Vurnon Anita has been speaking to several media outlets in the Netherlands and the quotes are popping up in various places.
The Leeds United player last week joined Willem II on loan for the rest of the season, after being told his chances at Elland Road would be limited this season.
Not making an appearance under Marcelo Bielsa, Anita was left in no doubt that the Argentine coach simply didn’t rate him, so a transfer was the obvious solution for all involved.
Picking up the 29 year old’s words in the Netherlands, it seems clear that he would have liked to stay at the Championship club had the situation been different and more favourable for him.
Trouw quote the Leeds owned player as saying: “I want to play football again, I want to enjoy the game again, that’s what I’m doing it for. In England I was at a dead end, you don’t want to stay with a club where the trainer doesn’t see it in you. Willem II is working hard, wants to go higher, I know some people here.”
It’s explained that Anita’s move to Leeds hasn’t been a happy experience, with the footballer hampered by injury last season and then told at the beginning of this campaign he wasn’t in the plans of Bielsa.
