It’s fair to say that Weston McKennie has made the most of his return to Juventus from Leeds United after a loan spell at Elland Road.

The USA international was sent to the Whites after falling out of favour in Turin, and there was hope that the Yorkshire side remaining in the Premier League would lead to more than €30m heading into the Serie A club’s bank account.

That never happened, however, and Tuttosport, relayed by Il BiancoNero, explain that his resurgence in Italy after his mediocre Leeds spell could lead to him getting a new contract at Juventus.

The midfielder has now become a key component of Max Allegri’s plans this season, despite his club trying to sell him in the summer, and he has now earned himself ‘a permanent space in the starting XI’.

His performances have ‘not gone unnoticed’ by Juventus either, and that’s why his agents are ‘about to begin talks for the renewal of his contract’, which currently expires in 2025.

It’s added that a representative of his agency, Wasserman, is expected ‘in the second half of November’ to sit down and ‘discuss the important contractual step’.

This comes after all the drama in the summer, when Leeds ‘failure to buy him had ruined a deal worth €34m’, which was seen as a ‘missed opportunity’ to make some money due to the Elland Road side’s relegation to the Championship.

All in all, it’s a deal that worked out for everyone, as there will have been some in Yorkshire glad to see McKennie leave after some far from impressive performances during his spell there.
