Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has revealed the final conversation he had with Pep Guardiola before leaving Manchester City in the summer.
Infobae have an interview with the forward in which he insists that there were no hard feeling between him, Guardiola or Manchester City.
The Argentine left Manchester City in a €75m deal in the summer after two years at the club following a €21.4m move from River Plate.
He proved to be one of the smartest signings in the Etihad era at Manchester City, scoring 36 goals and registering 17 assists in 103 games for the club as well as winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup with the club.
This was all done while playing a secondary role behind Erling Haaland, something which eventually led to his departure from the Etihad.
There was a feeling that the striker had become frustrated with the role he was playing under Pep Guardiola, who, naturally, made Erling Haaland first choice when both players were available.
Indeed, some believed that there had been a falling out between Guardiola and Alvarez, but the striker insists that was not the case.
“No, no, no, I’m not one to send messages, but yes, I do see what is said,” he said.
“All the coaches I’ve had have treated me very well. In fact, more is said than what is really true.
The last conversations I had with Pep were about “thank you very much for everything you gave us in two years. There were many titles. You never caused any problems; you didn’t bring any trouble to the club. Nothing. You always gave your all.”
“Not one complaint. They were always words of gratitude and mine too towards the club.”
