As widely reported by the Brazilian media in the past few days, Paris Saint Germain are about to win the race for São Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo.
Even though Leicester City were said to be close to the signing, the French side showed up and are just sorting the final details to get the transfer done.
As Globo Esporte today features a story about that, they claim it was Beraldo himself who chose the transfer to PSG.
The Parisian side aren’t offering a lot more than the Foxes, who promised to put €20m on the table, and that’s why the player’s word was so important.
Globo Esporte points out that Leicester City were seen as an ‘entrance door’ for the Premier League, as they have good chances of getting back to the top flight, and that would be a step where he’d have ‘more conditions to adapt’ before going to an European giant.
Still, Beraldo chose PSG for being a ‘consolidated’ club in Europe who have the ‘ambition’ of winning the Champions League.
It seems not even a bigger offer from Leicester City would have changed things, so they will just have to wait and see if the French club will confirm the signing in the coming days.
