On Thursday, Sport again reported Barcelona have made an offer to Leeds United for Raphinha. Later that day, the same outlet stated the winger has told his agent, Deco, to do ‘everything possible’ to secure him a move to the Camp Nou.
Mundo Deportivo on Friday explain the 25-year-old is a ‘very firm option’ for the La Liga side, especially if Ousmane Dembélé were to leave the club in June and Erling Haaland’s signing does not materialise.
Xavi Hernández’s side are largely focusing to sign free agents and potentially investing big on the Borussia Dortmund star. If they fail to bring in the Norwegian, then the focus will be shifted to a new winger and this is where Raphinha fits in.
The Brazilian is aware of the Blaugrana’s interest and is ‘delighted with the idea’ of playing at the Camp Nou. Ever since he heard the Catalan club want him, the South American ‘paralysed his renewal’ at Leeds and his ‘main objective’ is to play for Barcelona.
Raphinha has a high release clause, but it will be reduced if Leeds were to drop down to the Championship. If the English club were to continue in the top flight, the deal will be ‘more expensive’ and ‘more complicated’ for Barca.
The newspaper states the arrival of the ex-Rennes man at Barcelona will not only depend on Dembélé and Haaland, but also on Adama Traoré’s future.
The latter is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers and the La Liga side have an option to buy him in the summer.
To sum it up, Barca will have to sort out the situation with Dembélé, Traoré and Haaland, before making concrete efforts for Raphinha. After having clarity on the former trio, they will have to make funds available to convince Leeds United.
This, clearly, shows less confidence over the Raphinha signing than there’s been in recent days.
